Annotations
Striegel: FastReplica and its variants (ALM-FastReplica) focus on how to distribute content quickly to multiple CDNs in the absence of an underlying IP multicast infrastructure. The distribution has similar properties to
BitTorrent? in its file splitting (i.e. split into n subfiles) but focuses primarily on how to push out content rapidly to a series of controlled distribution nodes. The scale of the work focuses on large files (service packs, movie files, etc.) with experiments on Planetlab-esque situations (Internet2). Key contributions of the work include performance derivations, the addition of reliability, and the experiments.
