Rather than viewing 802.11 and Bluetooth as separate entities, should they be merged at the hardware level such that the device driver can consider both for localized retransmissions? For instance, can I recover locally over Bluetooth and would it be cheaper than the normal exponential backoff of 802.11? Might be a nice SIGCOMM paper. HotNets? ? is probably way too soon but something to ponder based on Dave's reliability metrics.
