Recent News

  • March 2008: We will be receiving a DURIP equipment grant to create an on-campus mesh network and a new simulation back end.
  • December 2007: A recent Sun AEG grant will help support our efforts on Lockdown and act as workstations for our summer REU students.
  • December 2007: Congratulations to Mike Chapple on passing his Ph. D proposal defense!
  • November 2007: Our NSF site REU looks like it will be coming through. Look for 10 REU students between myself and Dr. Poellabauer over the next 3 years.
  • November 2007: With a bit of luck, I will be offering an enhanced version of CSE 40422 (Computer System Design) in the spring with special opportunities for students to work on Wifi-enabled cell phones courtesy of Motorola. Juniors and seniors in any field of engineering at Notre Dame are welcome to take the course with the pre-requisite of operating systems being waived.
  • November 2007: I'll be co-chairing a track/symposium/area for IC3N? on Internet Services and Applications with Swami Sivasubramanian of Amazon.
  • September 2007: Out to Raleigh, NC for IEEE BroadNets and a visit to Vince Freeh (newly tenured professor in CS, congrats Vince) at NC State
  • August 2007: Blogging now for your reading pleasure at Efficient Redundancy
  • August 2007: Congrats to Qi Liao on successfully defending his Master's Thesis.
  • August 2007: Our group is now accepting new undergraduate student researchers. Please send me an e-mail to inquire. Both options for credit or simple experience are available. Previous programming experience is not required and all levels of undergraduate are welcome to apply.
  • August 2007: I am now one with Google calendar. Click the above link although keep in mind that it is a reference, not always perfect.
  • July 2007: Out to Washington D.C. for the Cyber Security Research Needs for Open Science Workshop
  • July 2007: Paper accepted in ACM Computer Communications Review on Dynamic Jumbo Frame Generation, part of our research on Transparent Bandwidth Conservation (see below)
  • July 2007: Enter the Wiki
    • My personal website is now part of the research group Wiki. We'll be migrating to a new server in the next month but one can still link to my page on the CSE or Notre Dame server and have it successfully re-direct wherever the Wiki may be currently residing.

Brief Biography
