Connect the Wiimote

Using a TRENDNet USB Adapter

  1. Make sure the USB Bluetooth receiver is plugged into your computer and the green power light is on.
  2. Start the Bluetooth software. There are two ways to open it.
    1. A Bluetooth icon, , will appear in the system tray (bottom right corner of the screen). Right-Click the icon and choose “Add a Bluetooth Device”
    2. Open Control Panel. From the start menu: Start > Settings > Control Panel.
      1. Choose the “Printers and Other Hardware” category.
      2. Choose the “Bluetooth Devices” option.
  3. The following window will open. Click Add.

  4. This will open a wizard to connect the Wiimote

Press and hold buttons “1” and “2” on the Wiimote. The lights at the bottom of the Wiimote will begin blinking.
You must keep both buttons held down throughout the rest of the connection process.

Once the lights are flashing, Check the “My device is set up and ready to be found” box. Click “Next”.

  5. After the wizard is done searching for Bluetooth devices you will see a screen similar to the one below.

The Wiimote is the device named “Nintendo RVL-CNT-01” and will have the property “New device” underneath it. Select the Wiimote and Click “Next”.

If more then one device named “Nintendo RVL-CNT-01” shows up in the list it is recommended that you restart the process until there is only one device with that name. This will happen if someone else is trying to connect a Wiimote to their computer at the same time. Repeat the process to ensure that you are connecting the Wiimote you have and not someone else’s.

  6. The next step of the wizard prompts you to assign a “passkey” to your Bluetooth device. The Wiimotes do not use a “passkey” so choose the “Don’t use a passkey” option and Click “Next”.

  7. After that the wizard will install the Wiimote and you will get a “The Bluetooth device was successfully connected to your computer” message. Click “Finish” and the Wiimote is now connected to your computer. The lights on the bottom of the Wiimote will continue to blink now that it is connected.

If the wizard completes successfully but the Wiimote does not stay connected to your computer then remove the back battery cover of the Wiimote and press the red “Sync” button. At this time we do not know what is causing the problem but this solution has worked so far.
