WeHab: Low-Cost Rehabilitation via the Gaming Peripherals

WeHab is an inter-disciplinary effort by faculty members at the University of Notre Dame to explore how low-cost gaming peripherals (specifically the Nintendo Wii Balance Board) can be leveraged to deliver extremely low-cost augmentations to balance rehabilitation. We focus on balance in the area of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) with a specific emphasis on stroke for both acute and chronic patients.

  • Motion-Based Peripheral Management: Our MBP-M is an open-source software suite oriented at provided scalable, robust instrumentation using gaming peripherals oriented at motion capture. Our tool supports interfacing with the Nintendo Wii Balance Board, the Nintendo Wiimote, and the Microsoft Kinect. The suite is open source and will be incorporated into WeHab for our fall release.
